TUBERCULOSIS SURVEILLANCE PROTOCOL IN HEALTHCARE WORKERS
Synopsis
Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by the bacillus Mycobacterium tuberculosis and the main route of transmission is through the respiratory tract by inhalation of contaminated aerosols. Healthcare workers are at increased risk of exposure, therefore prevention of infection transmission in hospitals is a priority. Early diagnosis and close contact tracing are the cornerstones of infection control.
