Synopsis
The Hepatitis B virus is a virus that affects the liver and causes hepatitis B, which can lead to acute or
chronic disease. It is transmitted through percutaneous exposure, mucous membranes, or non-intact skin to infected biological fluids. The virus is found in higher concentrations in the blood and is highly infectious. The primary prevention of HBV transmission is based on vaccination. Healthcare professionals are at risk of exposure to HBV.
