Synopsis

With the occurrence of Pandemic triggered by the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which causes Covid-19 disease, the Portuguese Society of Occupational Safety and Hygiene was forced to make a series of changes in the initial planning of the 16th edition of the International Symposium on Occupational Safety and Hygiene - SHO 2020. Initially scheduled for the 8th and 9th of April at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, SHO 2020 was postponed to the 16th and 17th of July 2020 in an online edition. However, despite all these changes, it was tried to maintain the general structure of the Symposium.

The 2020 edition covers the traditional themes of Fire Safety, Prevention Management, Chemical and Biological Risks, Ergonomics and the Physical Environment. In the plenary sessions, in addition to these themes, emerging areas associated with the 4th Industrial Revolution and the new challenges it entails are addressed.
