ESCABIOSE E PROFISSIONAIS DE SAÚDE: PROTOCOLO DE ATUAÇÃO NUM HOSPITAL TERCIÁRIO PORTUGUÊS
Sinopse
Scabies is a parasitic skin infection caused by the human mite Sarcoptes scabei (var. hominis), which is
relatively common in hospital settings and can be transmitted to healthcare professionals (HCPs) who provide direct care to infected patients. Symptoms are caused by a type IV hypersensitivity reaction of the host to the mites (and their products) and are characterized by intense, generalized itching that worsens at night. Diagnosis is based on clinical history and epidemiological context, with confirmation by microscopic examination of mites and/or eggs.
